It has all the necessary infrastructure (ports, hotels, night clubs, bars, organized beaches, restaurants etc.) to make your holidays unforgettable.

Close to the northernmost end, opposite of Skiathos, Loutraki, is an idyllic place with unique nature and hospitable people. A destination for rest, relaxation and acquaintance with the delicious Skopelos cuisine with emphasis on fish, squid and splendid local spoon delights. The place is ideal for those who want to escape from the city’s dungeon and relax in a tranquil environment but also for those who love boating, fishing and sailing with small boats, exploring the enchanting beaches and the countless bays of the island.

SIGHTS

One of the major sights of the island is the medieval castle built on the ruins of the ancient capital, the house-museum of the writer Pavlos Nirvanas, the Folklore Museum in Chora with a collection of traditional costumes and hand-crafted models of old ships and finally the Sentoukia, tombs on Mount Karya from the late Roman period. There are also a large number of churches, 360 in number, of which 120 are in Chora.

The island’s cuisine consists of a wide variety of dishes, where all the fresh products produced there are highlighted. Famous Skopelos’ specialties are the twisted cheese pie, made with local cheese and fried.

Also the roast stew, the meat with the quinces, the famous local kids from the islands of Jira and Kyra Panagia that drink seawater and the pork with plums are some specialties for which the island is famous, while plenty of fresh fish and seafood are offered in all taverns. Spoon sweets are another strong point of local cuisine, with the most popular “egg” made from a variety of plums thriving in the area.

Tavernas and restaurants for all tastes, you will find plenty, both in Chora and in individual villages. For the younger age, there are no night shops that promise magical night cocktail evenings under the moonlight.

Skopelos has more than 15 beaches, most of which are organized and access to them is very easy.

The most famous is Milia, an exotic beach with fine pebbles and clear waters, framed by pines and rocks. Right next to it is Kastani beach, famous for its shooting of “Mamma mia!” And considered by many to be the most beautiful beach on the island.

Organized beaches with beach bars and sun loungers are Panormos, Elios and Limnonari, while for a swift dive you can see Glyfoneri, which is right next to Skopelos Town.

Among the most beautiful beaches and close to Chora is Stafylos and next to it is Velanio, the beach that is famous as a nudist beach.
